The Post Office Trust Centre

Transact electronically – with confidence

Post Office Trust Centre certificates are used to provide organisations and individuals with a high level of trust in terms of the electronic activities they are engaging in.

Our secure ‘environment of trust‘ provides:

  • Authentication: Certificates may be used to ensure that the individual or servers and websites are in fact who they profess to be.

  • Validation: Certificates may be used to ensure that the electronic identity of the individual or servers and websites has not lapsed or been revoked.

  • Message integrity: Certificates may be used to ensure that electronic messages were not changed or tampered with.

  • Non-repudiation: Certificates may be used to provide non-repudiation of the transactor due to the fact that the message was signed by the transactor’s certificate.

  • Confidentiality: Certificates may be used to encrypt electronic messages or data and thereby ensure that the message content cannot be read or data accessed by anyone but the intended recipient.

  • Electronic signing: Personal certificates may be used to sign electronic documents, messages or data and thereby provide legal proof of intent related to the contents of the document, message or data.

  • Automated expiry notification: A key advantage of the Post OfficeTrust Centre PKI is the automated expiration notification that emails the client advising them of imminent certificate expiry dates. This eliminates the possibility of expired certificates and the issues that go with having an invalid certificate and the process of reissue.
